PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data player in which disturbance, hang-up, or the like of a picture and sound are prevented and playback of content data can be continued. SOLUTION: A data player 1 for playing back contents data being a stream of a ciphered plurality of data units is provided with a decoding processing part 16 decoding the data unit using a decoding key specified by the data unit, and a playback processing part 17 playing back the data unit decoded by the decoding processing part 16. The decoding processing part 16 judges whether the decoding key specified by the data unit can be used or not, and when the decoding key can be used, the part 16 controls the data unit so that playback processing by the playback processing part 17 is executed, and when the decoding key can not be used, the part 16 controls the data unit so that playback processing by the playback processing part 17 is not executed.
