A rescue assembly assists the escape of a person through the manhole cover of an industrial tank or container with limited overhead clearance. The rescue assembly is a ladder frame placed over the open manhole and from which a winch and harness are let down. The winch pulley is located above the manhole and the winch is to the side of the frame.
