A method of estimating capacitance of a converter is provided to perform capacitance estimation only through software without additional hardware and perform stable estimation in both no-load and load conditions by injecting an AC voltage component into a DC terminal instead of an input side of the converter. A method of estimating capacitance of a converter includes a first step of adding an AC voltage component of a frequency lower than a power frequency to a DC terminal voltage command of the converter through an AC power addition command unit(12), a second step of calculating a difference between input power of the converter and output power of an inverter through a subtracter, a third step of extracting a frequency component of AC ripple voltage from output power of the subtracter through a band pass filter(50), and a fourth step of estimating the capacitance through SVR(Support Vector Regression) algorithm by using the power passing through the band pass filter, capacitance power obtained through training, measured capacitance, Lagrange multipliers, and Kernel functions.
