PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign matter detecting device composed of a simple structure that detects foreign matter intruding from between a conveyor belt and a floor board member with high sensitivity at a terminal end of a conveyor device for loading a passenger on the conveyor belt and transferring the passenger. SOLUTION: The detecting device detects foreign matter wound in a terminal end drum 16 in the conveyor device wherein the conveyor belt 17 is endlessly wound around a starting end drum and the terminal end drum 16 and the passenger on the conveyor belt is transferred from the side of the starting end drum toward the side of the terminal end drum 16. The detecting device is composed of a switch bracket 26 provided in parallel to the width direction of the terminal end drum 16, and a contact-type switch 27 fixed to the switch bracket 26 and having the same length as the width of the terminal end drum 16.
