A wire-guided curette and a method of thereof are described. The end port ion of the curette is capable of scraping tissue for sampling. The end porti on of the curette can also excise and/or sweep away strictures that are impe ding passage through the body lumen. The curette comprises a lumen for advan cing the curette over a wire guide and into body cavities that are normally difficult to access. The end portion of the curette that is performing the p rocedure comprises a scraping element that is affixed to a tubular shaft of the curette.
