METHOD OF PRODUCING POLY-ELECTROLYTE MEMBRANE

A method for preparing a polymer electrolyte membrane for a fuel cell is provided to improve chemical stability remarkably and to lower a manufacturing cost by using a nonhalogenated material. A method for preparing a polymer electrolyte membrane comprises the steps of absorbing a solution for polymerization containing a styrene-based monomer and a vinyl-based monomer to a supporting sheet; polymerizing it to generate a polymer, thereby forming an organic layer comprising a supporting sheet and a polymer; absorbing an inorganic precursor to the organic layer; combining the inorganic precursor and the polymer of the organic layer and the inorganic precursors by sol-gel reaction, thereby forming an organic/inorganic composite membrane; and introducing a sulfonic acid group to the organic/inorganic composite membrane by sulfonation.
