A polymer compound, a biocompatible brush polymer, its preparation method, a bio-material containing the biocompatible polymer, and a biocompatible member prepared by processing the bio-material are provided to improve biocompatibility and processability and to allow surface characteristics to be controlled. A polymer compound or a biocompatible brush polymer is represented by the formula I, wherein a is an integer of 0-8; Y is -CH2- or -O-; X is -CH2S(CH2)mO-, -CH2O(CH2)mO-, -CH2COO(CH2)mO-, -(CH2)mO-, -OCO(CH2)mO-, -COO(CH2)mO-, -NHCO(CH2)mO- or -NHCOO(CH2)mO-; R is -COCH2NH2, -COCH(CH2)CH3, -COCH(NH2)CH(CH3)2, -COCH(NH2)CH2CH(CH3)2, -COCH(NH2)CH(CH3)CH2CH3, -COCH(NH2)CH2CH2SCH3, -COCH2NHCH3, -COCH2N(CH3)2, -COCH2NHCOCH3 or -CONHCH2CH3; Z is H or -X-R; n is a degree of polymerization; and m is an integer of 0-20.
