A solar position tracking apparatus is provided to allow sunrays to always vertically enter the tracking apparatus by tracking the horizontal position and altitude of the sun, which is changed by the rotation of the earth, in real time. A solar position tracking apparatus is intended to track the present position of the sun using incident sunrays when the sun is shifted horizontally and vertically according to the rotation of the earth. The solar position tracking apparatus includes a horizontal direction tracking unit and a vertical direction tracking unit. The horizontal direction tracking unit detects the horizontal position of the sun, and has a horizontal lens unit and a bimetal unit. The horizontal lens unit comprises a hemisphere formed by horizontally coupling two hollow quarter-spheres with each other, with a plurality of convex lenses formed on the outer surface of the horizontal lens unit to focus sunrays. The bimetal unit is positioned inside the lens unit, and operated when the sunrays entering the lens unit are focused. The vertical direction tracking unit detects the vertical position of the sun, and has a vertical lens unit and a bimetal unit. The vertical lens unit is formed by vertically coupling two quarter-circular lens arrays with each other. Each lens array has a predetermined number of convex lenses which are arranged in a row. The bimetal unit is positioned inside each quarter-circular lens array, and is operated when the sunrays entering the lens unit are focused. |
