<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moving picture transmission server capable of efficiently generating moving picture data for transmission, and a control method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: In the case that a moving picture server for moving picture distribution transmits moving picture data to a cellular phone with various specifications, intermediate moving picture data D1 is generated from original moving picture data D0 when generating moving picture data D1 to D1n for transmission suitable to reproduction of the cellular phone. Moving picture data D11 to d1n for transmission are generated from the intermediate moving picture data D1.
