<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically manage a physical cable connection state by using an SNMP protocol generally used in network management thereby eliminating limitation on network connection equipment to be managed. <P>SOLUTION: This network management system uses: a network management server which collects device information regarding each of a plurality of network connection devices by using the SNMP, confirms an SNMP Trap received from a network connection device relating to a network connection device where a change in the connection state occurs according to the occurrence of the change in the connection state of one of the plurality of network connection devices and stores received information of the SNMP Trap; and a configuration management server which automatically acquires port information about each network connection device from device information, automatically acquires connection state change information from the received information, detects ports used by each network device for connection based on the port information and the connection state change information and updates network configuration information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
