PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning apparatus that enables defoaming easily with a minimum installation area and low energy consumption. SOLUTION: An exhaust duct 11 having a nearly-round horizontal cross section is installed on a cleanser container 1 for storing a cleanser solution used for cleaning a material to be cleaned. The exhaust duct 11, which discharges air upward is installed so that a suction inlet is located at a position below the level where the material to be cleaned is transferred. A plurality of air nozzles 3 for generating an air flow 4 are installed at the level where defoaming is required in the exhaust duct 11. The air nozzles 3 are installed in the horizontal predetermined direction facing off the center of the duct. Incidentally, a perforated baffle plate 2 to suppress foam may be installed right under the air nozzles 3. The air flow 4 generated by the air nozzles 3 hits and defoams a foam solution 13 that is pulled with the attraction force of the exhaust duct 11 and is passing through the perforated baffle plate 2.
