PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intercom system which enables telephone communication between intercom master units via a network line. SOLUTION: An extension telephone device is provided with a door intercom slave unit 2, and the intercom master unit comprising a master unit 3 and a network adapter 4, and is connected to a server device 5 via the network line NT. When a predetermined operation is executed by either the door intercom slave unit 2 or the master unit 3, a CPU 30 of the master unit 3 sends a transmission signal including its own address, a destination address and a command signal corresponding to the predetermined operation from the network adapter 4. When the network adapter 4 receives the transmission signal from the server device 5, the CPU 30 performs an operation for establishing a call connection with the source master device 3 in accordance with the command signal included in the transmission signal. When a control unit 51 of the server device 5 receives the transmission signal from any master unit 3, the control unit 51 sends the source address and the command signal to the master unit 3 of which address corresponds to the destination address in the transmission signal.
