PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet stripping method for inhibiting the breakage of a sheet material or a plate material. SOLUTION: The method is provided for stripping the sheet material from such a laminate 10 that the sheet material 11 is adhered onto the surface of the plate material 12. It comprises using a holding means 14 for holding the sheet material near its edge to be pulled up, thereby causing stripping between the layers of the laminate near the edge to form a gap 16 to be exposed to the end face, blowing fluid 17a into the gap in the state of holding the sheet material near its edge at a predetermined space from the plate material 12 to develop the gap along between the layers in the planar direction, and separating the stripped sheet material from the holding means. This prevents deflecting stress from working all over the sheet material above the stripped face during stripping the sheet material, and inhibits deflecting stress on the plate material located on the lower face due to the tensile stress of the sheet material from occurring in the plate material under the stripped face.
