PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine in which cooling of a drum-driving motor is improved without lowering the strength of a metallic flange for mounting the drum-driving motor. SOLUTION: The washing machine includes a rotary drum provided inside an outer tub 20 and a drum-driving motor 36 to rotate the rotary drum provided outside the outer tub 20. A metallic flange 37A for fixing the drum-driving motor 36 to the outside of a bottom part 20a of the outer tub 20 is fixed with bolts 37b. The rotary drum is connected to the drum-driving motor 36 via a main shaft 35 provided at the metallic flange 37A. The metallic flange 37A has a circumferential rib 37f. In a radial area of the metallic flange 37, the circumferential rib 37f is not disposed at least in an area from the inner side end of winding wire 36c of the stator of the drum-driving motor 36 to the outer side end of the winding wire 36c, however, circumferential ribs 37f, 37g are disposed in an area on the outer side in the radial direction.
