The invention concerns a method for browsing through items extracted from a specific list of items. One part at least of the items of the list is displayed and a browsing control enables a graphic feature to be moved by the user on the displayed items. The maximum speed of movement of the graphic feature depends on the total number of items of the list. In accordance with an improvement, the acceleration of the scrolling speed when the user maintains the browsing control also depends on the total number of items of the list. The invention also concerns a terminal equipped with a user interface for implementing said method.
