An accelerator pedal system is provided to alarm a driver when vehicle speed is over limit speed, and to improve durability as well as reduce manufacturing costs. An accelerator pedal system comprises a vehicle speed sensor, an accelerator pedal(200), a switch, an engine management system, an accelerator sensor, a pedal control unit(109) and a repulsive force device. The accelerator pedal has one end rotating on the base of a vehicle frame. The switch generates a signal corresponding to one of a plurality of modes set on the base of limit speed. The engine management system receives signals from the vehicle speed sensor and the switch. The accelerator sensor senses a position of an accelerator pedal and outputs a signal corresponding to it. The pedal control unit receives a vehicle speed signal from the engine control system and a signal generated in the switch, comparing the two signals, and outputs a control signal when vehicle speed is over the limit speed. The repulsive force device receives the control signal, and controls the accelerator pedal so that the accelerator pedal is operated according to the selected mode.
