PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for screening an endoplasmic reticulum stress-related substance by which the substance related to the endoplasmic reticulum stress can readily and precisely be judged by utilizing an easily available cell line having a high reproduction rate, and to provide a cell-evaluating chip. SOLUTION: The method for screening the endoplasmic reticulum stress-related substance includes culturing cells by changing the concentration of the endoplasmic reticulum stress-inducing substance stepwise, and by evaluating the influence of the test substance on the endoplasmic reticulum stress from the difference of the recovering concentration of the cell survival rate by the presence or absence of the test substance. In another embodiment, the method includes carrying out the cell culture by changing the concentration of the endoplasmic reticulum stress-inducing substance, and by evaluating the influence of the test substance from the difference of a BiP detection-starting concentration by the presence or absence of the test substance.
