Provided is a light source unit which can prevent display qualities from deteriorating due to "warping" of a diffuser plate. The light source unit has a light source and a diffuser plate in a light source chassis in this order from the bottom. The diffuser plate has a placing table under a corner section, and a holding member is arranged above the corner section. The placing table and the holding member are connected with each other and sandwich the diffuser plate. Preferably, the holding member has light blocking effects, and the placing table and the holding member are connected by using a screw.
