<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight hollow shaft for a roller contributing to form a high-quality image, and a lightweight roller and an image forming device forming the high-quality image over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The hollow shaft for the roller includes a cylindrical shaft body 5A, and shaft end parts 10A inserted into both end parts of the shaft body 5A. In the hollow shaft 1A for the roller, a relation between the whole length Lg of the shaft body 5A and the total length Lc of the axial insertion length of the shaft end parts 10A into both end parts of the shaft body 5A satisfies the formula; 0.025<Lc/Lg<0.20, and a relation between the whole length Lg of the shaft body 5A and the whole length Ls of the hollow shaft 1 for the roller satisfies the formula; 0.75<Lg/Ls≤1. The roller is provided with an elastic layer on the peripheral surface of the hollow shaft 1A for the roller.
