<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative dispersion optical fiber and the like that simultaneously reduce cumulative dispersion in the wavelength band of an optical fiber having a positive wavelength dispersion characteristic in the 1,310 and 1,550 nm wavelength band. <P>SOLUTION: The negative dispersion optical fiber is obtained having a suitable negative wavelength dispersion characteristic in the 1,310 and 1,550 nm wavelength band. Specifically, the ratio D<SB>1,310</SB>/D<SB>1,550</SB>of the wavelength dispersion in the 1,310 and 1,550 nm wavelength band and the ratio D<SB>1,625</SB>/D<SB>1,550</SB>of the wavelength dispersion in the 1,625 and 1,550 nm wavelength band are each set in the range of 0.3-0.6 and 1.1-1.2 respectively. Also, the ratio of the radius a1 of a first core part to the radius (a) of a second core part Ra=a1/a is set in the range of 0.24 to 0.70; the ratio of a relative refractive index differenceΔ1 of the second core part to the clad to a relative refractive index differenceΔof the first core part to the clad RΔ=Δ1/Δis set in the range of -0.13 to -1.73; and the radius (a) of the second core part and relative refractive index differenceΔof the first core part is set in the range of 2.3-6.0μm and 0.3-1.5%, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
