PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system capable of obtaining an optimum modulation method without spending unnecessary time duration and avoiding break-off in data communication when a modulation method is specified. SOLUTION: Data are received (130). The received data are disassembled for each carrier (132), and each data are stored in a buffer. The data for each carrier stored in the buffer are combined (136), and error correction processing is applied to the data (138). The data are distributed for each carrier (144). Each data distributed for each carrier are compared with each data stored in the buffer (146). It is judged whether there is an error in the data for each carrier, based on the comparison results (148). If an error is detected here, data indicative of a modulation method which does not exceed a limit of error correction are extracted from a memory (150), and the data are transmitted (152).
