PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality detection method in highly precise cutting and a machining abnormality detection device for preventing the cutting from being affected by unevenness in data obtained during the cutting and preventing occurrence of time lag between the data during the cutting and a threshold value. SOLUTION: Since a short period average amplitude value A and the threshold value used to determine machining abnormality are computed and updated at any time based on the amplitude data obtained during the cutting, the detection of machining abnormality is not affected by the unevenness in vibration data Sb and the amplitude data even if the unevenness occurs in these data in this abnormality detection method in the cutting and the machining abnormality detection device.
