PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filtering plate of a filter press which keep a groove part for drain for accelerating drain installed between a filtering cloth and enables easy installation of a filtering plate and prolongation of the life of the filtering cloth, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the filtering plates 11 of the filter press in which a material to be filtered is fed by pressure to a filtering chamber 11c formed between adjacent filtering plates 11 by over wrapping and pressing a plurality of filtering plates 11 via a filtering cloth 7, groove parts 13 for accelerating drain which communicate with each other excluding load supporting boss parts 11e and a supply hole 11d are installed on the surface of an elastic covering member 12 covering a filtering plate main body 11a provided with a frame member 11b in the periphery, a plurality of load supporting boss parts 11e in the intermediate part, a supplying hole for the material to be filtered 11d, and a discharge passage for a filtrate 11f. The troubles such as attachment or peeling of conventional net members can be eliminated by installing the groove parts 13 on this elastic covering member 12 for accelerating drain and the grooves communicating with each other improves drain efficiency.
