PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of an evaluation of a blood vessel using ultrasonic diagnostic equipment. SOLUTION: An echo tracking process section 22 tracks the position of the wall of a blood vessel 16 based on echo signals. A blood vessel diameter measurement section measures the diameter of the blood vessel 16 based on the tracked position of the blood vessel wall. A blood vessel diameter change waveform formation section 28 forms a blood vessel diameter change waveform expressing values of the ever-changing blood vessel diameter. A display image formation section 42 forms a display image displaying a real-time B-mode image of the blood vessel 16 and a B-mode image of the blood vessel 16 at rest, in parallel to each other. A user moves a probe 10 while observing the both B-mode images displayed on a display 44 and adjusts the position of the probe 10 so as to accord the real-time B-mode image with the B-mode image at rest as much as possible.
