The method involves rotating a particle distributor (5) with centrifugal distribution, with respect to a fixed bed (1) of containers (2). Quantity of the distributed particle is measured at each relative angular position of the distributor. The measured quantity and the corresponding angular position are stored. Extension of the particle distribution and transversal spreading distribution are calculated from the quantity and position. The distributor mechanism is placed preferably near the container that collects and measures the particle. An independent claim is also included for a device for measuring spreading distribution of a particle to be spread.
