An oil-separator insert (15) can be inserted into a receptacle (21), flowed through with blow-by-gas, in the cowling (10) or housing and has a shaft part and at least one helical surface (17) for forming a helical channel (20) flowed through by blow-by-gases, in which the helical channel (20) is externally open to an enclosing lateral area of the helical surface (17). The insert (15) has an over-size relative to the receptacle (21), and the helical surface (17) consists of an elastomer, at least on its outer edge. An independent claim is given for a cylinder head cowling of a combustion engine.
