A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided to ensure safety without deteriorating high-rate discharge performances by using a nickel-based oxide as a positive electrode active material, and thus to be superior in both safety and battery characteristics. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises an electrode group formed by winding a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator interposed between the both electrodes, and a non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing a non-aqueous solvent and a lithium salt dissolved therein. An active material of the positive electrode contains a nickel-containing lithium composite metal oxide. When a porosity of the positive electrode is A(%) and a volumetric percentage of ethylene carbonate in the non-aqueous solvent is B(%), the product of A and B is 150-350, A is 15-20%, and B is 8-25%. |
