PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always enable a speed change at a proper speed change point independently of the difference of an operation state such as vehicular acceleration, etc. SOLUTION: Let a vehicle speed V and a throttle valve openingθ<SB>TH</SB>be a parameter. When a target speed change point P<SB>2</SB>(V,θ<SB>TH</SB>) of upshifting is preset, and the vehicle speed V and the throttle valve openingθ<SB>TH</SB>change at present vehicle speed change rateΔV and throttle valve opening change rateΔθ<SB>TH</SB>respectively, an expected point P<SB>yoso</SB>(V,θ<SB>TH</SB>) after a predetermined delayed time t<SB>0</SB>is calculated. The speed change is judged whether or not the expected point P<SB>yoso</SB>(V,θ<SB>TH</SB>) reaches the target speed change point P<SB>2</SB>(V,θ<SB>TH</SB>) when upshifting from the present gear stage. Thus, independently of the vehicle speed change rateΔV and throttle valve opening change rateΔθ<SB>TH</SB>the vehicle speed V and a throttle valve openingθ<SB>TH</SB>in a real operation state, the speed is always changed at or near the target speed change point P<SB>2</SB>(V,θ<SB>TH</SB>).
