PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system capable of improving the safety in driving a car. SOLUTION: A route evaluating section 4 which contains a crossing determining section 4b, a route cost computing section 4c and the like, is prepared as a function of a software section 11 of the navigation system 100, for example. The crossing determining section 4b acquires three-dimensional model data of a shielding object existing around an own car position from a map database 13b, specifies a position of the sun based on date and time information from a calendar/timer module 15, and determines whether or not the three-dimensional model and the straight line connecting the own car and the sun cross each other. The route cost computing section 4c computes respective route costs of a plurality of routes each representing an incidence degree of sunlight, by using a process of the crossing determining section 4b and the like for the plurality of routes which are created by a general function of a route creating section 1.
