PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic detector for battery polarity that automatically detects the polarities of a battery, when the positive terminal and the negative terminal of the battery are connected to detection terminals of a detection circuit. SOLUTION: The automatic detector for battery polarity is provided with a plurality of polarity detection circuit sections 8. The polarity detection circuit section 8 is provided with the detection terminal 6, connected to one connection terminal of the battery, the detection circuit 9, a positive-voltage conductive circuit 10, and a negative-voltage conductive circuit 11. The positive-voltage conductive circuit of the polarity detection circuit section is connected to a positive supply line 17 of a charger in parallel. The negative-voltage conductive circuit of the polarity detection circuit section is connected to the negative supply line 18 of the charger, in parallel. The detection circuit of the polarity detection circuit section, connected to the positive terminal 2a of the battery, detects a positive voltage, brings the positive-voltage conductive circuit into a conductive state, and also brings the positive supply line of the charger and the detection terminal 6a connected to the positive terminal into a conductive state. The detection circuit of the polarity detection circuit section, connected to the negative terminal 2b of the battery detects a negative voltage, brings the negative-voltage conductive circuit into a conductive state, and also brings the negative supply line of the charger and the detection terminal 6b connected to the negative terminal into a conductive state.
