PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking imaging apparatus in which wiring of the fixed side and the movable side of a pan or tilt mechanism is omitted, which is not influenced by photographic environment, with a wide imaging area and capable of tracking a target object freely and in a wide range. SOLUTION: (1) A rotary transformer is provided between the fixed side and the movable side of a pan or tilt rotation mechanism. (2) An encoder and a decoder for restricting bands are provided in order to pass the rotary transformer. (3) A tracking search means for rotating the pan or tilt rotation mechanism at fixed speed is provided.
