PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle parking brake mechanism capable of securely preventing hitting noise of a parking gear due to torque pulsation etc. when an engine is started or idled with a vehicle stopped. SOLUTION: A lock means 13 is provided with a parking lock pole 16 in which a first engagement tooth 161 capable of being engaged with / disengaged from a tooth space 151 of the parking gear 15 and a second engagement tooth 162 capable of being engaged with/disengaged from a tooth space 151 adjacent to the tooth space 151 of the parking gear 15 engaged with the first engagement tooth 161 are integrally provided. Tapered faces 162b contacting, without gaps, both side faces in the parking gear rotating direction of the tooth space 151 adjacent to the tooth space 151 of the parking gear 15 engaged with the first engagement tooth 161 when the first engagement tooth 161 is engaged with the tooth space 151 of the parking gear 15 due to engagement operation of the parking lock pole 16 are provided on both side faces in the parking gear rotating direction of the second engagement tooth 162.
