DETECTING METHOD OF INTERLACE VIDEO GENERATION SEQUENCE, AND INTERLACE/PROGRESSIVE CONVERTING METHOD AND DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the image quality of IP conversion by detecting the generation sequence of an interlace image generated by a sequence other than 32-pull down and 22-pull down sequences. SOLUTION: This detection method of interlace video generation sequence includes steps of: performing motion detection in each pixel by a two-field difference about the n-th field (n is an integer) video signal and obtaining statistics of inter-two detection times from the number of pixels having motion; obtaining statistics of inter-one detection time from an accumulated value obtained by accumulating one-field differences about pixels having motion caused by two-field differences about the n-th field video signal; and using the obtained statistics of the two detection times and the obtained statistics of one detection for three fields to detect whether the generation sequence of an input video signal is an edition sequence generated by editing progressive video.
