PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information access/search method via a data communication system. SOLUTION: A query is applied to a document set, and a result set and a query-dependent subset of matching documents are identified. A document scope crossing the result set, a value, and related weight summary information are calculated, and weighting is carried out with a summary value metric giving a value probability measure. A search engine (100) includes one or more subsystems in the form of a core search engine (101) a content application programming interface (102), and a client application programming interface connected to the core search engine (101) via a content analysis step (103), a query analysis step (105) and a result analysis step (107).
