PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector which has also an imaging function, and is small in size, light in weight and excellent in portability. SOLUTION: The projector 1 with imaging function includes: an illumination device 2 including a light source (laser beam sources 12R, 12G, 12B); an optical modulation device DMD3 which modulates beams from the illumination device by deflecting the beams to either one side of a first optical path and a second optical path; a projection objective optical system (projection-objective lens 4) which is arranged on the first optical path, projects the beams after modulation by means of the optical modulation device onto a surface to be projected, takes in the beams from an external object and forms an image of the object onto the optical modulation device; an imaging device CCD5 which is arranged on the second optical path and images the image of the object on the optical modulation device; and an image-forming optical system (imaging lens 6) which forms the image of the object on the optical modulation device onto the imaging device.
