The invention relates to a measuring device, in particular to a hand-held distance meter ( 10 ) comprising a measuring signal track ( 28, 34 ), an adjustable signalling means ( 36, 70 ) used for modifying said signal and a drive unit ( 40 ) which is used for adjusting the signalling means ( 36, 70 ) and comprises a static unit ( 52 ) and a driving element ( 46, 76 ) which is actuatable directly by the static unit ( 52 ) in such a way that it is displaceable with respect thereto. According to said invention, said driving element ( 46, 76 ) is driven rotatably with respect to the static unit ( 52 ).
