PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance earthquake resistance by adopting a base isolation structure in a load supporting device of a rack for load storage in which a pair of long right and left load receiving members is horizontally installed inside both right and left partition wall frames of a load storage district in the loading/unloading direction. SOLUTION: In this load supporting device, each of supporting units 10A, 10B disposed between supporting members 9 and the load receiving members 3 comprises a columnar member 13 projecting from a supporting member 7 and a receiving member 14 attached to the load receiving member 3. The receiving member 14 has a contact plate part 21 horizontally slidably abutting on the horizontal supporting surface 19a of the columnar member 13 and having a slidable contact surface 24a larger in area than the horizontal supporting surface 19a, and a peripheral wall part 22 arranged continuously with the periphery of the contact plate part 21. Biasing units 12A, 12B are so formed on the slidable contact surface center part 26 of the contact plate part 21 as to hold the columnar member 13. The slidable contact surface peripheral part 27 of the contact plate part 21 is so formed that the frictional resistance between itself and the horizontal supporting surface 19a of the columnar member 13 is larger than that at the slidable contact surface center part 26.
