The method for overturning detection of a vehicle entails detecting overturning in dependence upon a ratio of an energy loss of the vehicle to an initial kinetic energy, wherein the energy loss is determined in dependence upon at least one current kinetic energy, at least one rotational energy and at least one potential energy. The sensitivity of the method is adjusted in dependence upon the ratio. An independent claim is included for a device for overturning detection of a vehicle which has an evaluation circuit which in dependence upon a signal from a sensor system which detects movement of the vehicle determines a ratio of an energy loss of the vehicle and an initial kinetic energy, and detects overturning in dependence upon the ratio. |
