An apparatus for removing sustain noise of a plasma display panel and a method for driving the same are provided to prevent reception from reducing while watching digital broadcasting. An apparatus for removing sustain noise of a plasma display panel includes a tuner(110), a broadcasting mode discriminating part(120), a ground connecting controller(131), and a ground connector(134). The tuner receives a broadcasting signal of a channel which a user selects through a user interface. The broadcasting mode discriminating part discriminates the broadcasting mode of the channel which a user selects. The ground connecting controller outputs a control signal of connecting to the ground according to the broadcasting mode which the broadcasting mode discriminating part discriminates. The ground connector connects a common ground to the tuner according to the ground connecting control signal.
