<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium capable of performing high linear speed recording and obtaining signals of high quality in a wide linear speed range and having excellent signal preservability. <P>SOLUTION: The information recording medium has a recording layer generating phase change by irradiation with a laser beam or application of a current. The recording layer includes a composition comprising Ge and Sb to be an indispensable component and Te to be an optional component as a main component. The composition has a composition in a region enclosed by a point (a) (35, 65, 0), a point (b) (36.9, 60, 3.1), a point (c) (3.2, 60, 36.8), and a point (d) (5, 95, 0) (wherein the point (b) and the point (c) correspond to a point of Sb=60 on a line of Ge<SB>60</SB>Te<SB>40</SB>-Ge<SB>35</SB>Sb<SB>65</SB>and a point of Sb=60 on a line of Te-Ge<SB>5</SB>Sb<SB>95</SB>, respectively, and include points on respective lines of the point (a)-the point (b), the point (b)-the point (c), the point(c)-the point (d) and the point(d)-the point(a)) when expressed by a coordinate (Ge, Sb,Te)=(x, y, z) on a triangular coordinate shown in Fig. 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
