PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and highly efficient rotary electric machine whose weight is reduced. SOLUTION: A salient-pole rotor of the rotary electric machine includes a rotor spider having a dovetail groove extending in an axial direction on an outer periphery and a magnetic pole having a dovetail projection engaged with the dovetail groove. The magnetic pole having the dovetail projection is engaged with the dovetail groove, and a cotter is press-fitted to wall faces of them. Since a magnetic object is held in a gap formed between the dovetail groove and the magnetic pole of the engaged dovetail projection, output increases by increase of magnetic flux density between the magnetic pole and a stator.
