PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic optical system and a lens barrel in which vibration and impact are hardly caused and magnification is made changeable, and also the occurrence of a flare is made suppressible. SOLUTION: The system has an objective lens and an imaging lens, and has a first lens group including a positive cemented lens obtained by cementing a positive lens and a negative lens, a second lens group including a negative cemented meniscus lens turning its concave surface to the first lens group side and a third lens group including a cemented lens, wherein an intermediate image is formed between the first lens group and the second lens group. A condition (1): 0.25≤F/FO≤1.5 and a condition (2): 0.15≤D1/D≤0.4 are made to be satisfied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
