STEAM GENERATOR HAVING A HOT SURFACE AND MEANS FOR SPRAYING WATER ON THE HOT SURFACE

A steam generator (10) comprises an assembly of an outer tube (30) and an inner tube (20). In one embodiment, the inner tube (20) serves for spraying water on an inner surface (31) of the outer tube (30), wherein the outer tube (30) is heatable by means of heating elements (32). The inner tube (20) comprises a number of openings (21) which are arranged along the length of the tube (20). When water is sprayed from these openings (21) during operation of the steam generator (10), evaporation of the water to steam takes place as soon as the water reaches the inner surface (31) of the outer tube (30). Due to the fact that only a tube (30), i.e. a component having a relatively thin wall is heated during operation of the steam generator (10), heating up and cooling down of the steam generator (10) does not take much time, and controlling a temperature of the inner surface (31) of the outer tube (30) is relatively easy.
