<p>A process for efficiently producing a glass substrate in which adhesion of foreign substances to the glass substrate is inhibited in chemical strengthening. The process for producing a glass substrate for recording media includes a chemical-strengthening step in which a glass substrate in the state of being held by a holding jig is immersed in a chemically strengthening liquid to replace alkali metal ions present in the surfaces of the glass substrate with alkali metal ions contained in the chemically strengthening liquid and having a larger ion diameter than those alkali metal ions. The holding jig is composed of members made of a metal having an alkali metal element. Alternatively, the holding jig has a metallic film which has an alkali metal element and with which the surfaces of the jig is coated, from the beginning of use in the chemical-strengthening step.</p> |
