PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect a tracking obstruction factor caused in an optical disk, with simple constitution. SOLUTION: The device has an optical system (objective lens 15) projecting light to a track formed in an optical disk 1, a drive means (RTA16, ATA17) driving an optical system, a control means (servo circuits 29, 30) controlling the dive mean so that light is projected on the track, a tracking drive signal obtaining means (tracking obstruction factor detecting circuit 40) obtaining a tracking drive signal applied to the drive means, a tracking error signal obtaining means (tracking obstruction factor detecting circuit 40) obtaining a tracking error signal indicating deviation from the track of light from the control means, and a detection means (tracking obstruction factor detection circuit 40) detecting the tracking obstruction factor existing in the optical disk based on the tracking drive signal and the tracking error signal.
