PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair conditioning composition excellent in touch feeling in use including stickiness, moistness, smoothness, pliability and firmness. SOLUTION: The hair conditioning composition comprises a block-type alkylene oxide derivative of a specific structure represented by formula (I): Y-[O(EO)<SB>a</SB>-(AO)<SB>b</SB>-(EO)<SB>c</SB>-R]<SB>k</SB>, a cationic surfactant and a polyethylene glycol with a molecular weight of 1,000,000-5,000,000. In formula (I), Y is a residue resulting from removing the hydroxy groups of a polyhydric alcohol having 3-6 hydroxy groups; k is the number of the hydroxy groups in the polyhydric alcohol; EO is an oxyethylene group; AO is 3-6C oxyalkylene groups which are added to one another in a blocked fashion; a×k, b×k adn c×k are the average addition numbers of moles of the oxyethylene groups, 3-6C oxyalkylene groups and oxyethylene groups, respectively, being 0-100, 1-100, and 0-100, respectively, wherein (a+c)×k>1; the ratio of the total oxyethylene groups in formula (I) to the sum of the 3-6C oxyalkylene groups and the total oxyethylene groups in formula (I) is 10-80 mass%; and R is a 1-4C hydrocarbon group.
