PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a footstep of an escalator which can be made compact in a state of being removed from the escalator, while securing safety in an escalator installed state. SOLUTION: This footstep 6 has a cleat body 10 for boarding passengers, a riser body 11 freely attachable-detachable to the cleat body 10 and selectively installable in a use position for blocking up a step height surface with a lower footstep 6 and a storage position overlapping with the cleat body 10, and a riser support 12 rotatably supported by the cleat body 10 between the use position for supporting the riser body 11 and the storage position folded up in the cleat body 10.
