PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it easy for a receiver side to recognize existence of a copy protected page in the case that the copy protected page exists in a document to be transmitted to a destination. SOLUTION: An image reading means 9 reads in the document to generate image data. Generated image data is stored in a storage means 11. A pattern information detection means 13 detects whether pattern information showing a copy protected page exists in the stored image data or not. In response to detection of the existence of the pattern information, a report making means 17 makes a report relating to the read copy protected page.
