PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording and reproducing device in which a sheet-like optical disk having flexibility is randomly accessed, an a prescribed disk can be taken out and which has small size and high reliability. SOLUTION: The optical disk recording and reproducing device 100 includes a cartridge storage 101 which contains a number of the optical disks 5, a recording and reproducing device section 102 which takes out the optical disk 5 and records and reproduces the disk, and a controller. The controller performs control so as to draw the tray 1 from the cartridge 23 storing a plurality of the sheet-like optical disks 5 having flexibility, to put it into the tray 1, to return the tray 1 in the state of retreating the optical disk 5 into the cartridge 23, to mount the optical disk 5 in the B face recording and reproducing device section 45, the optical disk 5 is recorded and reproduced, then the tray 1 is drawn out of the cartridge 23, to place the optical disk 5 thereon and to returns it to the cartridge 23.
