PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample fixing device which fixes properly a sample on a sample stand with a simple mechanism, and also to provide a hardness testing machine. SOLUTION: One end of a sample pressing member 13 is pressed by a pressing member 14, and thereby the sample S placed on the sample stand 12 is pressed by an energizing force generated on the free end side of the sample pressing member 13.
